No screenwriter could have written a more cinematic year. 2020 was supposed to be a time of celebration—our 10th anniversary, our biggest Red Carpet Party yet, and plenty of exciting film programming. We had no idea we would spend more than half the year closed to the public.

Even with all the difficult uncertainty, and the heartbreak of losing over 85% of our staff, we’ve tried to find the silver linings wherever we can. We’ve chosen to focus on celebrating the things we still can—from bringing over 100 films to our virtual cinema, curating special film series, our pop-up drive-in event, launching our new & improved website, and many other small victories. Above all, the extended closure of movie theaters has demonstrated that nothing will ever replace the magic of the cinema, and that is the ultimate silver lining.

Fall is the time of year we traditionally kick off our annual fundraising drive to help sustain our operations. And this year, after over six months of closure, we need your support like never before to keep us going. Be here for us now, so that we will be here for you in the future. We are counting on you to be a/ silver lining.

The Federal CARES Act makes a new charitable deduction available to individual taxpayers that do not itemize their deductions. This new benefit, also referred to as a universal deduction, allows for a charitable deduction of up to $300 per individual. Individuals can also elect to deduct up to 100% of their 2020 AGI.

As your community cinema, we’ve been thinking about all of our patrons over the past several months, and we hope you’ve been thinking of us, too. In the spirit of celebrating, we hope you will continue to think of us as you enjoy movies at home and look forward to returning to the theater.
