As we have navigated the pandemic, the health and safety of our community has always informed our decision-making from our early choice to shutter in March 2020 to our delayed reopening in May 2021 to our mandatory vaccination requirement for all staff and volunteers. We are again in new territory with the rise in local transmission of the Delta variant.
Effective Friday, August 27, all ticket-holders 12 years of age and older are required to be fully vaccinated OR to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered at an official testing facility within 48 hours of date and showtime.
Upon arrival to the cinema, patrons must provide proof of vaccination in the form of a physical vaccination card or a photo of vaccination card (digital accepted) and it must match with photo ID. Final vaccine must be dated at least 14 days prior to date and showtime. Negative test receipt must be dated 48 hours or less prior to date and showtime with the patron’s full name matching photo ID.
In accordance with our current policy effective August 4, and per the City of Winston-Salem mandate effective August 20, masks are required for all patrons when not actively eating or drinking at their seat. If you have a medical exception to the mask requirement a negative COVID-19 test receipt from an official testing facility dated 48 hours or less prior to date and showtime with the patron’s full name matching photo ID will be accepted.
This is the policy of a/perture for the foreseeable future for all films and events held inside the cinema. Outdoor events via a/ mobile are not included in this policy. Please continue to check our regular emails and website for any updates as this situation evolves and we respond accordingly.
We believe this policy will help keep our film loving community safe, our staff protected, and our doors open in this challenging time. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
Along with the above we are currently seating the theaters at 50% capacity and continue to request guests maintain physical distancing practices in our theaters. Our additional safety protocols and procedures include:
We’ve made upgrades & adjustments to the cinema.
a/perture cinema is proud to be one of more than 300 theaters committed to the CinemaSafe campaign, which promotes unified protocols and guidelines developed and supported by leading epidemiologists to support a safe return to movie theaters.
In addition to updating our staff procedures to include enhanced cleaning, hand sanitation stations, and PPE, we’ve also made adjustments to the cinema.
We’ve added plexiglass windows at the concession counter to protect our staff and patrons. Capacity in our theaters is reduced and seating will be spaced. In between screenings, we use a cold fog sprayer device with a non-toxic EPA-approved disinfectant and an anti-microbial surface protectant to clean our theaters.
We’ve upgraded our HVAC units with a HALO-LED air purification system. This system will significantly reduce airborne and surface microbials, bacteria, viruses, and mold, as well as allergens, dust, and particulates.
