a/perture is pleased to screen Falling Sons. Produced by Tyler Hickman. We were lucky to have Tyler Hickman on staff for several years before and while he was a student at UNCSA School of Filmmaking. Tyler along with the director Tyler Cole will be on hand following the screening for a special Q&A!
Days after their father’s death, the Somerset brothers must face the one thing they despise – each other.
Tyler Cole was born August 11, 1985 in Berthoud, Colorado to teacher parents and is the last of four siblings. He began acting on the stage at a very young age, between school and community theatre alike. In his spare time he would recruit his friends to help him make short films; most of which were never complete. But determination to bring stories to screen led him from that small town to Los Angeles, where he simultaneously worked through Hollywood in acting and medicine while creating films of his own. He’s been nominated 4 seperate times for his work in film, and won in 2022 for Best Action Sequence at the Austin Action Film Festival for another project he’s developing with Tyler Hickman titled “The Rogues: Dawn of the Black Sun”.
Tyler Hickman was born October 2, 1985 in Sarasota, Florida and is the oldest of three siblings. From the age of 8, when he picked up his parents home camcorder, he wanted to make movies. Since 2006, he’s made over 30 short films, most of which have gone onto international film festivals. In 2020, he won a Midsouth Regional Emmy Award for Interactive Media for a promo series he created while working for WCWG television here in Winston-Salem. Just this year, he was nominated for two more Midsouth Regional Emmys: Best Image Promo Spot and Best Editor for Spot Announcement. He developed Falling Sons with Tyler Cole, and this is his first credit as Producer on a feature length film.
