Ca/ll to Musicians
Our state is home to one of the largest free music festivals on the East Coast – the N.C. Folk Festival, coming up Sept. 12-14 in neighboring Greensboro. In celebration of the many films that have paid tribute to this music genre, a/perture cinema is hosting two folk-inspired film screenings, and we would like to invite interested folk musicians to join us for a live musical performance to precede each screening.
Dates: Evenings of Sept. 3 and Sept. 6 – The films to be screened are “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “A Mighty Wind.”
One or both to be performed at a/perture cinema, 311 W. Fourth St. In Downtown Winston-Salem (2nd location to be announced soon)
Set: Approx. 30 minutes each set
Payment: $300 per performance*
Because a/perture is a small venue we are seeking a soloist, duo, or trio and cannot accommodate a larger ensemble.
Please send inquiries to info@aperturecinema.com with “FOLK MUSIC” in the subject line no later than Monday Aug. 18. Please include a description of your musical style. All inquiries will receive a response by August 25.
*Musician payments and film screening fees made possible by support from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.
