a/ life in film
Join a/perture to celebrate actors, filmmakers and important figures from film history with this ongoing series of memorial screenings. a/ life in film allows us to celebrate these artists after they have passed, but who remain immortal on the silver screen.
This spring, we celebrate the life of the one-of-a-kind character actor, Bud Cort. After being discovered by Robert Altman for M*A*S*H, he led Altman’s next film, the eccentric and unforgettable Brewster McCloud, which also represented the screen debut of Shelley Duvall.
This January, we celebrated Robert Redford, the actor, producer, director and independent film champion. From 70’s icon, starring in films like All the President’s Men, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, and Three Days of the Condor, to winning Best Picture with his directorial debut, Ordinary People, Redford is an indelible figure in the history of film.
This February, we celebrate two icons of film who’s works spanned decades and genres, but were perhaps most well known for their iconic romance films. Diane Keaton’s first two Oscar-nominated performances screened, Reds and her first win with Annie Hall. Rob Reiner’s classic Princess Bride screened on Valentine’s Day weekend.
