a/ life in film
Join a/perture to celebrate actors, filmmakers and important figures from film history with this ongoing series of memorial screenings. a/ life in film allows us to celebrate these artists after they have passed, but who remain immortal on the silver screen.

This January, we celebrate Robert Redford, the actor, producer, director and independent film champion. From 70’s icon, starring in films like All the President’s Men, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, and Three Days of the Condor, to winning Best Picture with his directorial debut, Ordinary People, Redford is an indelible figure in the history of film.
Add his creation of the Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Film Festival, and his reach on American cinema extends even further. During the 2026 Sundance Film Festival (January 22-February 1), join us in celebrating some of our favorite Redford performances.
