In Casablanca, Morocco in December 1941, a cynical American expatriate meets a former lover, with unforeseen complications.
North Carolina native Leigh Dyer comes to a/perture cinema after more than a decade of nonprofit management and many decades of loving film and traveling extensively to film festivals from Park City to Berlin. Though her real “favorite film” is an ever-shifting list of 10 or 15 titles, she chose “Casablanca” because it has stood the test of time so well. Its themes of love, honor, duty, and sacrifice speak to the universal human condition.
