Dates with showtimes for dinner + a/ movie: Shoebox Dinner with Magnolia House
  • Fri, Feb 27

Run Time: 120 min.

Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast in Greensboro is one of a handful of N.C. businesses once listed in “The Negro Motorist Green Book” that are still in operation. Celebrities including Ike & Tina Turner, James Brown, Ray Charles, and James Baldwin are among its famous former guests. The house’s director, Natalie Pass-Miller, will visit a/perture on February 27 beginning at 5:30 p.m. for a Q&A and screening of a documentary about “The Green Book.”

The screening is FREE but you must pay in advance if you would like a ‘shoebox dinner” to accompany the screening. Why a shoebox? When African Americans were traveling during the Jim Crow era, they frequently packed meals in a shoebox in case they couldn’t find a restaurant willing to serve them.

Select the showtime button above, and reserve your spot for the free film screening or pay for the ‘shoebox dinner’ option. (You may choose a fried chicken sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, or Vegan Goddess bowl. Sides include salad and mac and cheese. AFTER you have paid for your meal you may use this form to order your entree.).
