Funded and produced by legendary filmmaker John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood), and perhaps most famous for Three 6 Mafia’s Oscar win for Best Original Song, Craig Brewer’s heartfelt and textured film celebrates Memphis’ deep musical history. Terrence Howard stars as DJay, a pimp looking for a new direction. He decides to follow his dream of becoming a rapper, teaming with his old friend Key (Anthony Anderson), and Shelby (DJ Squalls). Featuring appearances by music icons Ludacris and Isaac Hayes.

“In addition to being a story of redemption, ‘Hustle & Flow’ is also about the deep pleasures (and the mystery) of making music out of nothing, of telling a story that amounts to something much greater than the specific lyrics sung or notes played.” ~ Stephanie Zacharek, Salon
