Craig D. Atwood is Associate Pastor of Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC and Professor Emeritus of Moravian Theological Seminary where he served as the Charles D. Couch Professor of Moravian Theology and the Director of the Center for Moravian Study. He also taught at Wake Forest University School of Divinity (2004-2010) and Salem College (1994-2002). He has published over 50 books, articles, and essays on Religion in America and Moravian history and theology, including Community of the Cross: Moravian Piety in Colonial Bethlehem (2005) and Theology of the Czech Brethren from Hus to Comenius (2009). He was editor of three editions of the Handbook of Denominations in the United States (2000, 2005, 2010) and is senior editor of the academic series Pietist, Moravian, and Anabaptist Studies for Penn State University Press. Craig assumed duties as Associate Pastor at Home Church in June 2024 where he has been a long-time member. He lives in Winston-Salem with his wife Julie, and has three daughters and four grandchildren.
