two by almodóvar
To celebrate the release of Pedro Almodóvar’s Venice-winning The Room Next Door (opening January 17th), join us in taking a look back at two of the Spanish master’s previous films. Influenced by the melodrama of 1950’s filmmakers like Douglas Sirk, while bursting with color and feeling, Almodóvar’s films are all one-of-a-kind.
Each starring the luminous Penélope Cruz, take a break from the long, cold winter and dive into the warmth and grace that defines Almodóvar. The deeply human characters he writes provide an empathic vision through his twisty, constantly surprising narratives. You may be able to identify an Almodóvar film from a mile away, but you’ll never guess where they go.
All About My Mother (1999) – Screening January 14 and 19
