Over five days, campers will take an engaging look at the art of movies. Starting with a modern release, campers will work backwards through film history, and complete activities based on the films shown. The cirriculum is designed by a/perture’s curator and programming director, Jake Laystrom, and instructed by a/perture team member and local elementary-school teacher Erin Eftink. From modern ground-breaking animation to the silent art of Buster Keaton, get your budding cinephiles started on their explorations of the wonderful world of cinema!
Day 1: Modern Animation
Day 2: Early Computer Animation
Day 3: International, Hand-Drawn Animation
Day 4: International, Live-Action Slapstick Comedy
Day 5: Silent Comedy
By exploring the basics of film history, campers will develop an understanding of movies, and continue to develop their taste and engagement. With a strong foundation here, campers will have a head start in their future careers as filmmakers, critics, programmers, and most importantly, movie lovers.
