streetside cinema is an outdoor, year-long, film festival that seeks to further immerse our community in the magic of cinema by providing free access to a curated festival of short films from around the world.

good morning (zuzanna klara bardian, poland): when taking out the garbage, two neighbors bump into each other.

aspartame // egg man (bartholomew skippy jälapeno, united kingdom): a young man left his home to pursue his dream of owning an organic egg factory.

tsim sha tsui station (neil law, united kingdom): a little girl accidentally falls into a cold and abandoned world while waiting on the subway platform, and is led by a mysterious cat into the tunnels.

cactus and the kid (effren villanueva, united states): a cactus tries to keep its fruit kid safe from the dangers of the desert.

arkae – tot alles is opgelicht (ondřej nedvěd & vojta komárek, czech republic): a body has lost all his will to defend himself and determine own destiny.

the ant tower (lina machida, japan): tomorrow, they’ll finish building the most beautiful tower on this planet.

jimmy sails away (tamara broćić, serbia): anna’s father goes to work on a ship, despite the financial help from her piggy bank.

streetside cinema boasts an impressive collection of films that are both visually varied and geographically diverse. Featuring animated shorts, narrative films, and documentaries from across the state, over the country, and around the world, season five has something for everyone.

three hours fifty-three minutes and 25 seconds of excellence.

You’re watching the best of the best. Out of 1,820 submissions, only the top four percent of films were selected for screening. Entries were submitted through FilmFreeway and are now open for the 2024-2025 season.

Visit a/perture cinema on 4th street and look for the street-facing TV mounted directly to the right of the main entrance.  Each reel of short films will run on loop throughout the day and will screen for approximately two weeks (with a break in winter).
