Join the culinary experts of Winston-Salem and the film experts at a/perture for an evening exploring the best of both worlds together. With your ticket, you join us for a curated multi-course meal at a locally owned restaurant; a movie at a/perture to enjoy with your dessert; and a talk by the chef discussing their inspirations. We will continue this recurring series, so please check back for more dates soon!

Oh’ Calcutta and “The Lunchbox”

Enjoy a three-course dinner at this restaurant founded by two chefs with shared Calcutta heritage, Freddy Lee and Gopal Chandarana, with Indo-Fusion cuisine blending Eastern and Western styles. Following the entree, participants will walk across the street to enjoy a screening of “The Lunch Box.” (Specific menu will be posted soon, check back for details!)

In this 2013 film starring Irrfan Khan, a young housewife and a lonely widower begin an unlikely correspondence when Mumbai’s eerily reliable lunchbox delivery service makes a mistake.

Dinner to be served at 6 p.m. at Oh’ Calcutta, 310A West Fourth Street, with screening at a/perture at 7:30 p.m.

Foothills Brewing and “Talladega Nights”

Foothills chef Shane Moore personally chose this 2006 comedy filmed in North Carolina, subtitled “The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” for his culinary inspiration. Your ticket brings you:

Bread Service with Wonder Bread and Country Crock

First Course: KFC – Korean Fried Chicken with Karen Sauce (Cougar) on a rice-cake with Kimchi

Second Course: Flatbread in Hugalo’s (where Ricky Bobby worked before he started driving) Pizza Box with Prosciutto, Blistered Tomatoes, Roasted Garlic, Balsamic Glaze

Bonus course: Crunch Wrap- Sliced Beef Tenderloin, Chihuahua Cheese, Green Chili’s, and Poblano Cheese Sauce.

Then, participants can walk just two blocks to a/perture to enjoy dessert:
