A.I. Double Feature

Over two nights, witness the evolution of our views of Artificial Intelligence on film – first at a/perture, then at UNC School of the Arts where we will join forces with Kenan Institute for the Arts. This partnership is supported by the Sloan Foundation + Science on Screen.

August 27, 6pm: Witness a collaboration between Stanley Kubrick (whose 1968 film ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ set the bar for onscreen depictions of A.I.) and Steven Spielberg, who stepped in to complete “A.I.: Artificial Intelligence” (2001) after Kubrick’s passing. With a special pre-film introduction from Deborah Levine, Dean of the UNCSA School of Filmmaking. Click “details” below for tickets.

August 28, 7 pm: Travel to the UNC School of the Arts campus for a FREE viewing of “The A.I. Doc: Or, how I Became an Apocaloptimist,” followed by a panel discussion organized by the Kenan Institute for the Arts at UNCSA. The panel will feature Davis Coombs, ACE, the Oscar-winning editor of “The A.I. Doc,” along with UNCSA Chancellor Brian Cole.
