With Steven Spielberg’s new film Disclosure Day (opening June 12) bringing him back to the realm of sci-fi, it’s the perfect time to revisit maybe his most underrated film on the subject. Reuniting with Jaws star Richard Dreyfuss, and working with famed French New Wave director François Truffaut in a rare American acting role, this epic of contact with a species from outer space further reflects Spielberg’s core themes of familial strife, and obsessive protagonists.
We will be screening the 1998 Director’s Cut, cited by Spielberg as his final version of the film.
