1. Celebrate historic movie theaters and watch “Matinee” (1993):

Following the public screening of this John Goodman comedy celebrating old-fashioned movie theaters, author Benita VanWinkle will return to a/perture to present her book America’s Hometown Movie Theaters: Please Remain Standing. (She first visited during RiverRun in April). The book, releasing nationwide in September, is not yet available in stores but will be available for purchase exclusively at a/perture on Aug.1. Anyone who registers to join our Chicago trip will receive a FREE copy of this beautiful hardback book (Simon & Schuster, $75).

2. Travel to Chicago in September

September 10-13, 2026. $500 deposit refundable through Aug. 10; $1500 balance due by Aug. 11.
