North Carolina Plays Itself

North Carolina has a vibrant history as a filming location, a setting for films as varied as its landscape. Often, North Carolina will stand in for other locations, especially utilizing Wilmington’s famed Screen Gems Studio. We are celebrating the films that are shot and set in our Tar Heel state by bringing in filmmakers and experts who work and live here to discuss the benefits to shooting outside of the expected big cities and getting off studio lots.

Ever since we lost our state funding in 2014, there has been a significant drop in productions calling North Carolina home. Production means a boost to the economy, and a place for talented local artists to grow their careers. Support North Carolina film!
