For the concluding event of ‘Spielberg Summer,’ a/perture is partnering with UNC School of the Arts and the Kenan Institute for the Arts to examine the potential of emerging technologies in the arts! Legendary filmmaker Stanley Kubrick (‘2001: A Space Odyssey’) is credited as a producer and developed the initial script treatment before he passed away in 1999; Spielberg included a dedication to Kubrick in the finished film. This film was credited as a major inspiration for the 2026 release “Sheep in the Box,” which screened at a/perture earlier this month. It provides a jumping-off point to examine how our views of A.I. have evolved with the technology, and this thought-provoking discussion is scheduled to continue on Friday with a FREE documentary screening on the UNCSA campus.
