Part-time sex worker, full-time chaos magnet, AP is convinced that the universe has it out for her… and she might be right. In this wild, unfiltered debut from writer/director/star Annapurna Sriram —AP seeks a cosmic reset after a tarot reader floating in a swamp tells her she needs $1,000 and a sacrificial lamb to lift her curse. Armed with neither, she meets up with her long-lost kindred spirit Danni, and together the two moped off on a bizarre quest through Trashtown USA —a dystopian, neon-drenched sprawl of strip clubs and urban decay, stocked with a series of assorted oddballs, Tom of Finland cops, and some all-too-familiar type clients. Fucktoys is rude, crude, unhinged, girlypop middle finger to filmic convention, and a comedic calling card for anyone who finds themself asking the question: am I cursed???

Annapurna Sriram grew up in Nashville,Tennessee where she attended the Nashville School of the Arts. She credits her early artistic influences to the many transgressive-and unchaperoned-movie rentals she found at the local public library throughout her childhood. She received her BFA in Acting from Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts, and began her career in New York City acting on the stage, and in film and television. Her most cherished previous work includes Jesse Eisenberg’s The Spoils, Wallace Shawn’s Evening at the Talk House, and independent feature film Feral. She is also known for her roles on television including Billions, The Blacklist,Bonding, and a fan-beloved appearance on I Think You Should Leave. Her directorial debut Fucktoys, premiered at SXSW where it received a Special Jury Award in narrative feature competition. The film has since been officially selected and received numerous Jury or Audience Awards at festivals around the world including Karlovy Vary, Fantasia, NewFest, Vancouver, BFI London, Sitges, AFI Fest, and Torino. Annapurna was a 2026 Film Independent Spirit Award nominee for the Someone to Watch award.

Alissa Simone is an artist, cultural worker, and an emerging documentary film professional with multiple creative passions. She is currently a board member for Out at the Movies International Film Festival and a Art House Theater Day Fellow for Art House Convergence. Last year, Alissa was the 1st Place winner of the 14th Annual Student PitchFest Competition at RiverRun International Film Festival. Her curious and compassionate nature infuses her work through film programming, collaging, archival research, photography, writing, and filmmaking. Her recent short film, Where We Belong, focuses on the world of Black burlesque from the perspective of Lucy Risqué as she navigates creative and financial freedom in the South. Alissa’s work focuses on the beauty of queerness, soul restoration, movement, community, memory, embodiment, observation, and a tactile sense. Through stories, whether her own creations or curations, her goal is to make people feel, see, and understand themselves and their neighbors on a deeper level. Through her anthropological lens, she aims to activate the senses that we often numb to survive this exhausting system of a dying empire. She believes stories can reveal what people don’t know and show them what they can’t see. We are working toward building a more collective, more loving world—one nourishing film at a time.
